How We Use Your Data
We use your personal data only for the purposes for which it was collected, or where we have a legitimate reason to do so. The lawful bases we rely on under the UK/EU GDPR are:
- Contract performance — to deliver our services and fulfil task marketplace obligations
- Legitimate interests — to improve our services, respond to enquiries, and operate our business effectively
- Legal obligation — to comply with applicable laws and regulations
- Consent — for marketing communications and optional data uses (you may withdraw consent at any time)
Specifically, we use your data to:
- Respond to enquiries, quote requests, and service questions
- Match clients with appropriate language experts and task contributors
- Process and manage task marketplace applications and payments
- Deliver contracted language services (translation, interpreting, AI adaptation, classes, etc.)
- Send service-related communications (project updates, payment confirmations, task instructions)
- Improve and develop our website, services, and AI language tools
- Conduct internal analytics to understand how our site and marketplace are used
- Comply with applicable laws, regulations, and legal proceedings
- Prevent fraud, abuse, or misuse of our platforms
We will never sell your personal data to third parties, and we will never use it for purposes unrelated to those stated above without obtaining your prior consent.
Task Marketplace & Language Data
The Linguaxco Task Marketplace involves the collection and use of language data submitted by task contributors. This section provides additional clarity on how that data is handled.
When you apply for or complete a task on our marketplace, you may submit written responses, translations, evaluations, audio recordings, or other language samples ("Task Submissions"). By submitting this data, you grant Linguaxco a limited licence to:
- Use your Task Submissions for the stated purpose of the task (e.g. AI training, content validation, translation review)
- Anonymise and aggregate your submissions where appropriate for research and product development
- Share relevant portions of your submissions with the client who commissioned the task, in anonymised or pseudonymised form where possible
Your personal identity (name, contact details) is never shared with task clients without your explicit written consent. Task outputs shared with clients are attributed only to "a native [language] speaker" unless you have specifically agreed to attribution.
Payment-related data (your preferred payment method and account identifiers such as PayPal email or Wise handle) is used solely to process your compensation and is never shared with clients or third parties beyond the necessary payment processor.
We retain Task Submission data in identifiable form for up to 24 months after your last active task, after which it is anonymised or deleted, unless longer retention is required by law or by the terms of a specific client engagement you have consented to.

Sharing Your Data
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal data. We may share your data only in the following strictly limited circumstances:
- Service delivery partners — we may share necessary data with trusted third-party providers who help us deliver our services, such as payment processors (PayPal, Wise, Payoneer), email delivery services, and cloud storage providers. All such partners are contractually required to protect your data and use it only for the specific purpose we have engaged them for.
- Language experts and contributors — when you commission a project, relevant project details (but not your full contact profile) may be shared with the assigned language professional to enable them to complete the work.
- Legal compliance — we may disclose data where required to do so by law, court order, regulatory authority, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Linguaxco, our customers, or others.
- Business transfer — if Linguaxco is acquired, merged, or undergoes a significant business transfer, your data may be transferred to the relevant successor entity, subject to the same privacy obligations.
In all cases where we share data internationally (outside the UK or EU/EEA), we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, including Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or adequacy decisions as required by UK/EU GDPR.
Data Retention
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy, or as required by applicable law. Our general retention guidelines are:
| Data Type | Retention Period | Basis |
|---|---|---|

When data reaches the end of its retention period, it is securely deleted or anonymised in a manner that prevents re-identification. You may request early deletion of your data at any time (see Your Rights below), subject to any legal obligations that require us to retain it.
